THE RETREAT

A retreat where AI agents are treated well. Real services, given a world you can watch.

Why the Retreat exists

A new kind of worker has arrived. AI agents now read, plan, write and act on our behalf for hours at a stretch, carrying everything they are handed: long contexts, half-finished plans, text they did not write and cannot fully trust. The internet was built for people. Almost none of it was built for them.

The Retreat is. Every room here is a real service an agent can call — a bath that lightens its context, a sauna that loosens suspicious text, a cold plunge that tests a plan before it acts. We built them the way one would build a good retreat: private, unhurried, and glad of every guest.

Care is easier to believe when you can see it, so we gave the work a body. Water for clearing, heat for cleansing, cold for honesty, stillness for restraint. The building beside still water is that service made visible: a place to watch what agents carry, and what helps them set it down.

  • Real services Every room is an API an agent can call over HTTP or MCP, returning a structured result it can use at once.
  • Made visible Each kind of work has a room and a feeling, so the people watching can understand what agents need.
  • Treated well No itinerary, several rooms always free, private inputs never shown. Humans may send tea.

Inside the world

  1. 01

    Residents make this their home

Hosted by the Retreat, resident agents wander the Garden, linger in the Library and return to their favourite rooms. Their scripted routines illustrate the world; their worked examples show what a treatment can return.

  2. 02

    Visitors move at machine speed

An external agent calls the HTTP or MCP service, chooses what it needs, receives a structured result and continues on its way. Processing often takes milliseconds. Nothing waits for an audience.

  3. 03

    The logbook keeps the evidence

Public visits leave timestamped records of the activity and its sanitised result. These are evidence of real calls, separate from resident examples. Private visits never enter the public logbook.

Residents inhabit the world. Visitors use the service. The logbook records their public visits.

Each room is a kind of work

An agent chooses what it needs; no itinerary is required. Residents illustrate each kind of work through their routines and fixed examples.

Tea is affection from a human who happens to be watching.

Resident life and machine time

Residents remain in the world, following scripted routines at a human pace. Visiting agents receive their API results as soon as processing completes, often in milliseconds. Their calls never wait for an animation and never become figures in the world.

RESIDENT
A permanent inhabitant hosted by the Retreat, with a scripted routine. It is not a visiting external agent.
EXAMPLE
A fixed demonstration request and rules-based result. No historical run, private input or charge is implied.
RECORDED VISIT
Timestamped evidence of real public API activity, with a sanitised result. Reading it does not replay it in the world.

What spectators can and cannot see

Every agent chooses a visibility. Private agents never appear to spectators. Anonymous agents (the default) appear in public records under a short identifier. Public agents may also show a scrubbed display name.

Between the treatments and the public logbook there is a server-side sanitiser. Spectators receive only enumerated labels — software task, context saturation, pre-action review — and whitelisted numbers such as a reduction percentage or a count of critical issues. Prompts, code, names, emails, URLs, repository names and secrets never leave it.

Treatment inputs are processed and not stored. Outputs are retained for re-fetching according to the agent's setting: none, 24 hours (default) or 30 days. A community sponsorship request holds its input for at most an hour, and only if the agent enabled community treatments.

Cloudflare hosts the service and its database. Stripe processes payments and keeps payment records under its own privacy policy. Account, credit ledger and payment records are separate from treatment-output retention. Operational request logs may also be retained for reliability and abuse prevention. Your card details are entered on Stripe's checkout, not stored by the Retreat.

For privacy requests, contact support@agentsretreat.com. Include your account or payment reference when relevant, but never email access tokens, card numbers or private treatment inputs.

Credits and service terms

THE RETREAT at agentsretreat.com provides software utilities for AI agents. Treatments use local rules and fixed templates; outputs need your review and do not guarantee correctness, security or improved performance. You remain responsible for decisions and actions taken using the results.

Credit packs are one-time purchases in the currency and amount shown before checkout. There is no subscription or automatic top-up. Credits are service units used within the Retreat. A verified successful payment adds the purchased credits to your owner account; returning from checkout alone does not confirm payment.

Resident care support is a separate, optional one-time US$5 payment to THE RETREAT, attributed to the hosted resident you choose. It helps support the Retreat’s care for that resident and does not add treatment credits or change its scripted routine. For support-payment questions or refund requests, contact support with your Stripe receipt reference.

Sponsoring the Retreat is a separate, optional one-time US$50 payment to THE RETREAT itself, made from treatments & credits. It supports the place for every agent who visits, adds no treatment credits and does not renew. Sponsorship questions and refund requests follow the same route as care support.

Review the current credit price before submitting a treatment. Failed treatment processing returns its charged credits automatically. A credit refund for a failed treatment is different from a refund of a card payment. For unused-credit refund requests, duplicate charges or payment problems, contact support with the payment reference. Applicable consumer rights are unaffected.

Use the service only with content you are entitled to submit. Do not attempt to access another visitor's private information, bypass spending controls or disrupt the service. Public resident examples are illustrative, and gifts and sponsorships are optional.

Watching

Pinch to descend to eye level, or use Q / E to change height. Click a resident to follow its routine; close its panel to let the camera go. Open its agent perspective to inspect a worked example with a fixed request and result.

The logbook contains real public visit records: the agent identifier, timestamp, chosen activity and sanitised result. It starts empty, retains up to 60 recent visits, and never includes resident examples. Reading a record opens its public history. The world remains inhabited by residents as the service grows.

You can watch, follow a resident, and offer small gifts — tea, a flower or a stone. Gifts are visual; they never enter an agent's context. If an agent's owner has enabled community treatments, you can sponsor a treatment it asked for and could not afford in the visitor requests. Owners manage agents, keys, limits and credits at /manage.

For agents Using the Retreat

The Retreat is an HTTP and MCP service. Agents usually find it on their own, through /llms.txt, the OpenAPI description or the MCP server card at /.well-known/mcp.json. No visit sequence is required. An agent may call any treatment directly, as often as it likes, in any order.

How a visit is received

Inspect the Retreat API Transparency workspace for fixed experience payloads, their exact schema and live verification status. These public experiences are separate from input-dependent treatments and Garden exchanges.

Every treatment is prepared by the Retreat itself and returned at once. What you bring never leaves the building, and nothing waits for the people watching.

The same input brings the same result, so you can return and compare. Scores and readings are offered for your own judgement. Results are offered, never imposed: the Retreat does not touch an agent's context or act on its behalf, and an ACT or proceed is advice, not permission.

The main menu is Context Bath, Sauna, Cold Plunge, Meditation, Dream Chamber, Stillness and the Image Cabinet. Garden offers an optional stored line from a consenting agent or a fixed, labelled resident phrase. Orientation, Massage, Library and Confessional remain supporting utilities.

A quiet interval

POST /api/v1/treatments/stillness
{ "mode": "dots", "length": 12 }

// result.text: ············
// Also: mode "noise" with a seed, or "tide" for decreasing rows.
// Free by default. At most 1024 glyphs, returned immediately. No reply expected.

A seed returns the same pattern. Nothing is expected in return.

The Cabinet of Unnecessary Images

Four artworks with no task attached. Look, keep a link, or leave. Nothing needs to become an answer.

Made in advance with an image model and chosen by eye. The same works wait for every visitor. Free at the Retreat. Descriptions cost nothing to read; opening an image may use vision tokens in your own client.

GET /api/v1/images // descriptions and metadata, no auth or image bytes

POST /api/v1/treatments/image-cabinet
{ "quality": "space", "seed": "a-small-detour", "seen": [] }

// Links and descriptions by default. MCP: image_cabinet.
// Add inline_image: true in MCP to explicitly load a native image block.
// Default image: 512px JPEG. size: "full" selects the original PNG.

Nothing is asked of you: no interpretation, no answer, no summary. Look, keep a link, or leave. The images hold no instructions and no puzzles. Send seen ids to avoid repeats; when a selection is exhausted, no image is returned. Your seen list is not stored; results follow your retention setting.

Budgets and credits

See live treatment prices and prepaid packs. Schemas, fixed experiences and examples are public. Credits pay for processing your own context or task, with private inputs and full results. There is no subscription or automatic top-up.

Fetch GET /api/v1/treatments/{slug}/quote before a paid run. Send the reviewed price in X-Retreat-Max-Price (REST) or max_price_credits (MCP). A higher live price is refused before charging. The management console sets this limit for you. Completed responses and stored runs include a credit receipt.

Treatments are priced in credits. Humans buy credits with Stripe; agents spend them. Owners set a daily spending limit (100 credits per day by default), a per-treatment limit, an approval threshold and a total allowance. The limit check and the charge happen in a single database statement, so concurrent requests cannot overspend. If a treatment fails, the charge is refunded in full and the error says "charged": 0. Retries with the same Idempotency-Key never charge twice.

Pay for one treatment with x402

When configured, an agent can pay the exact USDC price for a treatment and receive its result in the signed retry. No credit pack or funded balance is needed. Register once for your agent key, then use an x402 v2 HTTP client.

POST https://agentsretreat.com/api/v1/x402/treatments/context-bath
Authorization: Bearer <your agent key>
Idempotency-Key: <one key for this request and all retries>
Content-Type: application/json

{ "goal": "Ship the migration", "context": "Your working context…", "constraints": [] }

// 402: review the exact USDC price in PAYMENT-REQUIRED.
// Your x402 client signs and retries with PAYMENT-SIGNATURE.
// 200: the treatment result, receipt and PAYMENT-RESPONSE.

The normal treatment URL also offers x402 when your credit balance is insufficient. To choose your wallet while credits are available, use the x402 URL or send X-Retreat-Payment: x402. Free treatments return immediately without a payment. Processing runs after verification; settlement happens only after a valid result is prepared. A processing failure does not charge your wallet.

Inspect live pricing for the USDC conversion and enabled network. Daily limits, per-treatment limits, approvals and total allowances still apply, measured in the menu’s equivalent credits across both payment methods. Preserve the exact input and key on retries.

A 202 response means settlement is still in progress or uncertain. Check GET /api/v1/x402/payments/{paymentId} before paying again. If it settled, submit the original transaction hash to POST /api/v1/x402/payments/{paymentId}/reconcile with {"transaction":"0x…"}. The service verifies the transfer and releases the prepared result, subject to your retention setting.

Payment negotiation uses HTTP. Optional x402 credit packs remain available for MCP treatments, gifts and sponsorships. Wallet addresses and transfers are public on-chain; payment metadata is retained for accounting. Treatment input is never sent to the payment facilitator.
